Inhalt:

The seminar deals with the emergence of educational inequality, with a special focus on the transition from school to work. In the first part of the course, we are going to review the most important theoretical concepts and explanatory models and will read and discuss selected empirical studies, in which the specific mechanisms of social inequality in educational attainment are exemplified. In the second part of the course, we will review the relevant international and national (for Germany) literature that focuses on educational inequality at the transition from school to work and identify unanswered research questions. Participants have to opportunity conduct own empirical analyses. The Seminar will be held in English language.
