Inhalt:
Traditionally, research in Personality Psychology has primarily focused on individual differences, but has hardly taken the social context into account in which individuals live, behave, and perceive. Similarly, research in Social Psychology has largely ignored individual differences when explaining or predicting psychological phenomena. However, recent research has convincingly shown that there is a connection between personality and social aspects, for example, personality influences interpersonal perceptions or behavior in social relationships, and vice versa, the social context determines personality.

We are going to read and discuss recent theoretical papers as well as exciting empirical studies on the relation between personality and social relationships (e.g., zero acquaintance, romantic relationships, friendships). Everybody reads the article in question. During the sessions, texts are discussed and sessions are moderated by participants.

The texts are in English as is the language of discussion. The rationale behind is that participants get used to English texts (which is the prime language of psychological publications) and to improve their English while speaking. However, it is very important to realize that nobody should be afraid of speaking bad English, because the intention of the class is to improve English language.
