- Inhalt
- The aim of this Seminar is to teach about those biopsychological mechanisms underlying the experience of emotions. An overview will be given about cerebral (brain activation), autonomic (heart rate, blood pressure, skin conductance) and endocrine (hormones) correlates of emotions. In more detail, the Seminar is going to explore how emotions are non-verbally communicated and which impact this non-verbal communication has on shaping social interaction. The facial expression the most prominent channel of non-verbal communication will be especially focused on. Amongst others, the following questions will be answered: why do we show facial expressions of emotions? How can these facial expressions be assessed? What happens if we observe facial expressions in others? Which deficits in non-verbal communication occur in patients with psychological disorders (e.g. schizophrenia) and is it possible to treat these deficits? Theoretical background as well as scientific studies will be discussed.
