Prof. Dr. Meenakshi Khanna - Pool of NectarVeranstalter: Elite-MA Kulturwissenschaften des Vorderen Orients Mittwoch, 11.12.2019: 18:15 - 19:45 Uhr; SP17/00.13The Amritakunda or "Pool of Nectar" was the name of a Sanskrit text, primarily covering descriptions of yogic exercises. It was translated into Persian and Arabic during the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries. This presentation introduces an unidentified Persian manuscript from this tradition called the Amritakundaliya. Further, the objective is to highlight relevance of this particular manuscript by commenting on its’ structure and other significant attributes like use of diagrams, as a significant methodological devise for disseminating the practice of hatha yoga among the community of readers who were primarily Sufis.
Dr. Meenakshi Khanna is Associate Professor in History of Medieval India at the Indraprastha College for Women in the University of Delhi (India).
