- This course looks at the oscillating genre of the short story, the historical development of the form, and its American socio-cultural context, with a specific focus on the 19th century.
We will perform close readings of canonical works by (in)famous authors such as Irving, Poe, Hawthorne, Melville, Twain, Wharton, Chopin and Gilman.
