Vortrag Prof. Dr. Nezlek Evaluating reliability within the multilevel context.
"Evaluating the reliability of a scale, i.e., estimating the extent to which a set of items measure the same underlying construct, is not straightforward in multilevel designs, and often, analysts make critical mistakes when they estimate reliability within the multilevel context.
For the most part, these mistakes reflect a failure to take into account the fact that in multilevel designs the variability (or covariability) of a set of responses can reflect sources of variance above and beyond variance due to the underlying construct. In multilevel designs, the variance can include variance due to the hierarchical structure or nesting of the data. In this talk I will discuss the relevant issues, describe common errors, and make recommendations for best practice. If time permits, I may discuss parallels between estimating reliability within the multilevel context and estimating reliability for factorial designs."
