Inhalt
If we follow some of the core theorists of nations and nationalism, nations are inherently psychological phenomena: one "feels" attached to nations or even "loves" one's own nation and nations are are described as "imagined" communities.
What, however, can spychology offer towards an understanding of nations and nationalism? How can we describe and differentiate different ways of engaging with nationhood? What, for example do we as psychologists mean, if we talk of nationalism, patriotism and national investment? How are our perceptions of nation influenced by social factors, say national representations in everyday media and political speeches and discussions?
These are just some of the issues, we will address over the course of the seminar.
