- Inhalt
- It is easy to just sit back and operate the system, secure in belief that the wise and virtuous people who produced the textbook knew what was good for us. Unfortunately this is rarely the case. (Swan, 1992).
Even though we may grumble about textbooks, nobody seems to be able to come up with a product that pleases everybody. This course will look at the theoretical considerations of the academic world, the wishes and needs of the consumers (teachers and pupils), and the business world of the publishers. We will be putting together a workable checklist of analytical criteria to ask ourselves what goes into making a textbook effective or not, and then applying it to the textbooks that we use (or better: are allowed to use) in Bavarian schools.
