- Inhalt
- The seminar will be concerned with a period in the history of the English language (1500 - 1800) that is particularly relevant for the formation of Standard English. We will analyse the structure of Early Modern English on different linguistic levels, mainly phonology and morphology. Moreover, it will be important to discuss extralinguistic aspects, for example, attitudes towards English at the time, language policies, philosophical trends. Participants in the seminar will be asked to prepare individual topics and present them in class. At the end of term, there will be a written exam.
