- Inhalt
- One of the most productive authors of the late 19th and early 20th century, Herbert George Wells stands as one of the fathers of the science fiction genre. Still today, his early novels serve as the foundations of many of the genre’s tropes and motives. The course focuses on Wells’ early work in the genre of speculative fiction, which Wells himself dubbed ‘scientific romances’, namely the novels The Time Machine, The Invisible Man, and The Island of Dr. Moreau.
The course will take place as a block on two weekends in mid-January (fridays and saturdays). Participants are required to have read all three novels by the first date! Any editions will do.
Students have to register for our group on the virtual campus; as the seminar proper takes place in a very compressed period of time, there will be assignments prior to the first session. On the virtual campus students will be asked to register for a topic and prepare a presentation on this subject.
The course is available to both students aspiring to become teachers and students of English literature.
