- Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
- No special knowledge of Kurdish is required; some familiarity with the Middle Eastern context would be an advantage, though is not essential.
Credits can be obtained either through written assignments during the term, or a term paper that is completed during the semester break. Please consult with the instructors for further information
Modules:
BA Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft: (Erweitertes) Aufbaumodul 1, Vertiefungsmodul (seminar or lecture)
MA General Linguistics: core area: module 2, module 3, elective area: module 7 or module 8, PLing 2 (5 ECTS), PLing 3 (5 ECTS).
MA Cultural Studies of the Middle East: PLing 2 (5 ECTS), PLing 3 (5 ECTS).
Registration for the course in FlexNow April 1st to April 30th 2024.
Students are required to enroll in the Virtual Campus for this course by 17th April 2024
This course will start this course in the second week of the semester.
- Inhalt
- This seminar explores the dynamics of language maintenance and language shift within the unique context of the Kurdish language. We will uncover the socio-cultural and historical factors shaping the trajectory of the Kurdish language. This seminar will provide a thorough analysis of the challenges faced by the Kurdish language and the reasons for shifting or maintaining the language in different parts of the greater Kurdistan, engaging students in critical discussions, analyzing case studies, and develop a holistic understanding of language dynamics in the Kurdish community.
