- Inhalt:
- This hands-on exercise is focused on a problem of archaeological spatial data management and the integration of information acquired with various methods. Students will be introduced to the core of spatial data bases and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) using free and open source software (QGIS with Saga GIS and GRASS GIS modules). In the course, students will be shown the practical application of the tools for the archaeological site and cultural landscape analysis, which are common in landscape and geoarchaeology. These include the integration of raster and vector data, georeferencing maps and aerial photographs, creating new data through basic interpretation and through data collection using mGIS software (i.e. QFiled). Participants will have a chance to work with recent and historical remote sensing data i.e. WWII aerial photographs and airborne laser scanning derivatives.
