Inhalt:
The seminar deals with the transition from education to the labour market. We will read and discuss the main theoretical approaches that connect education to labour market placement and outcomes. In addition, we will consider how country differences in the setup of educational systems and labour market structures influence the transition from school to work. The theoretical considerations will be complemented by a discussion of empirical studies.

Inhalt:
The seminar deals with the various factors that account for the emergence of educational inequality. We are going review the most important theoretical concepts and explanatory models and link them to empirical findings. To this end, we will read and discuss selected empirical studies on specific mechanisms of social inequality in educational attainment. Furthermore, the seminar will provide the opportunity to conduct own empirical analyses through complementary exercises.

Inhalt:
Das Kolloquium ist die begleitende Veranstaltung für Abschlussarbeiten, die an der Professur für Soziologie mit dem Schwerpunkt Bildung und Arbeit im Lebensverlauf betreut werden. Eine Teilnahme setzt ein bestehendes Betreuungsverhältnis voraus. Die Anmeldung erfolgt über die betreuenden Dozenten. Im Kolloquium stellen die Studierenden regelmäßig die Fortschritte ihrer Arbeiten vor, die dann gemeinsam mit den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern des Kolloquiums diskutiert werden.
