Inhalt:

This course discusses the theory and methodology of language documentation. First, we will consider the issues related to endangered and minority languages, why linguists document languages, and what is the role of documentation in human cultural heritage in general. Second, using Twi (Kwa; Ghana) as an example, we will work with native speakers in order to receive firsthand experience as to how collect, analyze and archive documentation material. Third, we will have a practice in writing a grant proposal for a documentation project.
