Inhalt:

This course provides a hands-on introduction to quantitative methods in linguistics, illustrated with practical analyses of real language data from various corpora. No prior knowledge of quantitative analysis or statistics is required, though a solid understanding of the foundations of linguistic theory is recommended.

Use of a laptop or other suitable device is encouraged, as students will be working intensively with numerous pieces of statistical software.

This is a bi-weekly course. The exact course schedule will be announced in the first session. To facilitate communication, please join the VC group for this course as soon as possible.
