Inhalt:

This seminar explores the topic of labour migration from an interdisciplinary social science perspective. Its aim is to introduce students to fundamental theoretical concepts, empiricalresearch and debates in the analysis of international labour migration and labour immigration policy. Labour migration constitutes a large part of global migration. Migration for the purpose of work can be beneficial for migrants themselves as well as countries of destination and countries of origin.It can improve migrants earnings and boost the destination country s economy. The country of origin can benefit from migration via financial remittances sent to relatives back home , knowledge transfer or fostering of trade networks. However, more scepticalaccounts of the effects of labour migration emphasize the potential exploitation of migrant workers as well as increased labour market competition for native workers or net costs of migration for the welfare state. In addition to looking into theoreticaland empirical research on the determinants and consequences of labour migration, topics covered in the seminar include labour market integration of refugees, the impact of policies on integration outcomes and attitudes on labour immigration.

It addresses the relationship of mobility, migrants and the nation-state, taking into account the determinants and effects of migration policies. It aims at introducing students to central theoretical concepts, empirical research and debates in the analysis of migration policies. The seminar will be held in English. The sessions will include lecturer s & student presentations, group discussions and group work. Participants are expected to have read the assigned papers in advance of the sessions and to engage actively in class discussions.

Für diese Veranstaltung besteht Anwesenheitspflicht. Anmeldung für die Lehrveranstaltung ab 01.10.19 08:00 bis 10.10.19 über FlexNow unter Prüfungen. Bedingungen und Leistungsnachweise für den Schein: Lesen der Pflichtlektüre. Nachweis über die Teilnahme an der Bibliotheksführung. Für diese Veranstaltung besteht Anwesenheitspflicht. Der Kurs gilt als nicht bestanden, wenn weniger als 10 Sitzungen besucht wurden.

Inhalt:

Das Proseminar führt in die Grundlagen politikwissenschaftlicher Forschung ein und vermittelt Kompetenzen, die für ein erfolgreiches Studium der Politikwissenschaft notwendig sind. Die Studierenden erlernen, wie wissenschaftliche Quellen systematisch gefunden und wie mit ihnen umgegangen wird. Sie lernen Techniken des effizienten Arbeitens und die Praxis und Standards guter wissenschaftlicher Arbeit kennen. Darüber hinaus lernen sie zentrale Begriffe der Politikwissenschaft sowie die Teilbereiche der Bamberger Politikwissenschaft kennen und werden in die Lage versetzt, politikwissenschaftlich relevante Fragestellungen zu erkennen und selbst zu entwickeln. In der exemplarischen Auseinandersetzung mit diesen Grundlagen erwerben die Studierenden die Befähigung die Logik wissenschaftlicher Argumentation nachzuvollziehen.
