Leistungsnachweis: The final grade consists of presentation (25%) and essays (75%). Each student is expected to write 3 essays (1 000 words max each) throughout the semester. Essays may be submitted either in English or in German

Inhalt:

The Comparative Politics seminar completes the lecture “Introduction to Comparative Politics” and offers a broad overview of central topics of cross-national, regional and diachronic comparisons in political science. Throughout the seminar students deepen their knowledge of basic concept, theories, research questions and methods of comparative politics with focus on political regimes, institutions and actors. At the same time, over the course participants have numerous opportunities to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical cases during discussions and in their essays. In such a way, at the end of the course students obtain knowledge about advantages, challenges and limits of comparative politics.
