Zeit und Ort: Di 16:00 - 18:00, MG2/01.09; Einzeltermin am 5.2.2015 15:30 - 17:00, MG2/01.09
- Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
- The course is taylored for students without any programming knowledge. Students with knowledge in other programming languages may also benefit from this course since several operations can be handled quite differently in MATLAB (as opposed to languages like Java for example).
- Inhalt
- This course aims to teach people with no prior programming knowledge some basics of scientific programming with the programming language MATLAB. In small projects we will explore ways in which such programming knowledge may be used in the fields of psychology and neuroscience. It is a practical course with weekly hands-on programming tasks.
During the first few sessions the basics of the scientific programming language MATLAB will be learned step by step. Thereafter further concepts are introduced with the help of examples drawn from Psychology and Neuroscience. Here a list of some of the mini-projects you will encounter during class:
- Visualize saccades from an eye-tracking experiment
- Simulating a spiking neuron in action
- Analyze orientation-selective neurons in the visual cortex
- Conduct a t-test on a hypertonia study
I'm happy to answer any questions prior to the start of the course by email: andre.kovac@uni-bamberg.de
