- The course will be taught in English.
- Inhalt
- This course will cover a wide set of topics that focus on social and economic aspects of the lives of immigrants and their descendants. The whole cycle of migration and integration will be looked at: determinants of migration, the labour market experiences of immigrants, and various aspects of the lives of the second generation, including education. A special focus will also be placed on transnationalism, which recognises that (at least some) migrants retain strong links to their countries of origin either through their own activities or by having a part of their family remain in the origin country. The course will focus on Western countries, with readings covering mainly Germany, other European countries and the United States. The course will be taught in English.
