- Students will be admitted upon completion of an online placement test before the beginning of the semester which ensures a minimum of B2 (the level attained upon the successful completion of the 10th class in English in the German secondary school system).
The test can be taken at:
http://www.testpodium.com/de/main/englischtest_02.asp (Test Stufe 2) and the results should be submitted to catherine.irvine(at)uni-bamberg.de before the first class meeting.

Für Studienortwechsler, Erasmusstudenten sowie Studierende, die den Leistungsnachweis zur baldigen Prüfungsanmeldung benötigen, werden im begrenzten Umfang Plätze frei gehalten. Bei Überbuchung des Seminars fällt die Entscheidung über die Teilnahme in Rücksprache mit der Dozentin/dem Dozenten.
- Inhalt
- The course is an integrated language course involving grammar revision and consolidation and vocabulary expansion at the C1 level, as well as practice in reading, writing, listening and oral skills.
By the end of this two-semester course, you should be able to:
• understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning
• express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions
• use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes
• produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices
At the end of the semester, there will be an exam similar in structure to the Cambridge Advanced Certificate. In order to receive a certificate indicating that the level of English attained is that of C1, both Preparing for C1 (Teil 1) and Preparing for C1 (Teil 2) will have to be completed successfully.
