- Inhalt
- Brief Course Description:
This course aims to boost your speaking skills and your confidence
in academic settings.
This course is all about getting you comfortable with joining discussions, taking part in debates, and giving presentations.
We'll practice together how to share your thoughts clearly and stand your ground in debates.
In addition, we'll work on how to organize your ideas into presentations that hold people's attention.
You'll learn to speak clearly, use the right tone, and pick the best words to make your point.
Learning Objectives: You will:
• become more comfortable participating in class discussions and debates.
• organize and deliver compelling presentations, focusing on structure, visual aids, and audience engagement.
• improve pronunciation and intonation to ensure clear understanding.
• develop skills to argue effectively, using evidence and logical reasoning.
Weekly Activities:
We will dedicate time to discussions, presentations, debate panels,
and impromptu speaking challenges.
Additionally, we will learn to give constructive feedback to our peers on their performances.
Assessment Methods:
Your progress will be evaluated through participation in four graded activities:
1. Group discussion: contributing to a discussion on a given topic
2. Debate: participating in a debate, assessing persuasive speaking skills
3. Presentation: delivering a structured presentation on a given topic
4. Spontaneous speech: completion of impromptu speaking exercises
These components are designed to assess and foster your growth in academic speaking skills, encouraging active participation and continuous improvement throughout the course.
