- Introduction into basics of microeconomics at the level of Mikoökonomik I and II (BA) at Bamberg University (e.g., Pindyck, R.S. and D.L. Rubinfeld, 2005, Microeconomics, 6e, Pearson Education International or Varian, 2006, Intermediate Microeconomics, Varian, Hal R. (2006): Intermediate Microeconomics: A Modern Approach, Sixth Edition. New York: Norton.) and solid mastery of math at least at the level of Mathematik für Wirtschaftswissenschaftler I and II (BA) at Bamberg University.
- Inhalt:
- The course provides an introduction into modern microeconomic theory. Students will be trained in applications of the standard microeconomic toolkit at an advanced level of mathematical and conceptual rigor. Central goal of the course is the mastery of key techniques of microeconomic analysis such as the analysis of individual choice with and without risk, the computation of equilibria in exchange or production economies and games. Special emphasis is given to the economics of information. Lectures are in English.

- Objective:
In this seminar we will discuss human behavior and how it is modeled in economics. The objective of this seminar is to develop a game which illustrates and conveys human behavior. After a theoretical introduction, students will study an economic effect in detail and generate a game which they will present in class. Additionally, students should gather data on the behavior of players and evaluate the data with respect to the economic effect. The seminar is held in English.
Topics tentatively include the following:
· Adverse Selection
· Bargaining
· Newsboy Problem
· Democratic Decision Processes
· Behavioral Effects
· Markets and Behavior of Agents
· Other Interesting Economic Topics
