- Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
- Since the course is scheduled towards the end of the term, it will hopefully be possible to be taught in person or in a hybrid format, possibly outside to minimise infection risk. If switching to online becomes necessary, the design will feature measures against "zoom fatigue".
Trigger warning
The course will cover some sensitive topics. To support each individual student s well-being, the course is designed cautiously and there will be someone available to talk to after classes. However, avoiding triggers is impossible given the seminar topic. Hence, if you are not sure whether it is a good idea to join the course, do not hesitate to contact Daniel Mayerhoffer , the course instructor, or Dr. Carolin Stange .
- Inhalt
- The course evaluates various policy measures targeted towards improving gender equality and strengthening women*s rights in different respects. We will discuss topics ranging from legal and political equality to equal economic opportunity, societal recognition of all genders and gender-sensitive language to current backlashes.
We will utilise the methodology of Positive Political Theory, e.g. institutional analysis, decision theory and agent-based modelling. (However, this is not a method class, and what students learned in the introductory lecture and past seminars will be entirely sufficient.) Furthermore, we will inform our discussions by recent empirical and theoretical research. Thus, there will be short junks of reading before the course starts.
- Gender & Diversität / Nachhaltigkeit
- The course will only feature gender topics.
