Inhalt:

Social inequality in educational acquisition, labor market placement, and career trajectories forms a central core of social stratification in modern societies. The seminar addresses the issues of the inheritance of social inequality in the education system and in the labor market according to parental status, as well as persistence of ethnic differences in social structural domains. In addition, we examine the role of social resources in social and ethnic inequalities as well as gender inequality and intersectionality between gender and ethnicity. Finally, we will address the role of the respective national institutional framework at the interface of education and occupational allocation and its consequences for employment opportunities and social stratification as a whole.
