If you are new to a university, it is hard to find things. You could use a location-based search engine (e.g., GoogleMaps), but what if you do not know what to search for?
The goal of this project is to develop a mobile game for new students. After playing, they should know the most important locations for student life in Bamberg, like the different campus sites (ERBA, Feki, …), important administration offices, and leisure meeting points like the Untere Brücke.
In 2004, we already developed such a game, the “NexusRallye” for the University of Stuttgart campus. The following paper gives some ideas on how such games could be designed and developed: D. Nicklas, N. Hönle, M. Moltenbrey, and B. Mitschang, “Design and Implementation Issues for Explorative Location-based Applications: the NexusRallye,” 2004, p. 167―182.
The language in the project is English. The students will work in so-called “2-Pizza-Teams” of 4-6. The teams will be defined by us based on your skills and experience. Each team will develop an own version of the game. For evaluation and test, each game will be played by members of other teams.
