Inhalt:

This seminar will take a look at the various uses of texts of all kinds in the foreign language classroom. Emphasis will be on receptive processes and non-literary texts, their potential and the problems involved, but there will also be time to consider the production of texts of all types as this is an integral part of work with texts.

NB: Many of the texts for this seminar are in German, and so this might make it impossible for some foreign/Erasmus students to take part in this seminar!

Inhalt:

BiliSFU/CLIL involves teaching a curricular subject through the medium of a language other than that normally used. The subject can be entirely unrelated to language learning, such as history lessons being taught in English in a school in Spain. CLIL is taking place and has been found to be effective in all sectors of education from primary through to adult and higher education. Its success has been growing over the past 10 years and continues to do so.

At the moment there is a growing number of schools in Bavaria which have some involvement in CLIL, and teachers working with CLIL are specialists in their own discipline rather than traditional language teachers.

Despite its growing popularity, this approach is not without its critics. This seminar will therefore take a critical look at the theoretical backgrounds, the present terminological jungle, and resulting classroom consequences.

Inhalt:

Die Übung bietet den Studierenden, die kurz vor dem Ende ihrer englischdidaktischen Studien stehen, die Möglichkeit, Teilbereiche der Fachdidaktik vertiefend zu wiederholen. Insbesondere diejenigen Studierenden, die in der Englischdidaktik eine Klausur im Staatsexamen zu schreiben haben, können sich anhand der Diskussion und Bearbeitung von Staatsexamensthemen auf die schriftliche Staatsexamensprüfung vorbereiten. Von allen Teilnehmern an diesem Kurs wird zu jeder Sitzung ein aktiver Beitrag erwartet. Es wird empfohlen, diese Übung im letzten (frühestens vorletzten) Semester vor dem Examen zu besuchen.
