Inhalt:

Please sign up in VC (https://vc.uni-bamberg.de/moodle/course/view.php?id=32302) for this course if you intend to take it (ideally you would sign up until Oct 15). This helps us with capacity planning for the tutorials.

The exercises will be solved in groups consisting of multiple students. There will be homework assignments as well as assignments to be solved during the tutorials in class. Two of the assignment sheets will be randomly chosen by the organizers to be graded.
Please consult the entry for this course in the Modulhandbuch for the examination regulations.
There will be a written exam for this module at the end of the semester.

PSI-Sem-M Seminar Research Topics in Security and Privacy: Usable Privacy and Security

Dozentinnen/Dozenten:
Dominik Herrmann, Tom Gross
Angaben:
Seminar, 2,00 SWS, ECTS: 3
Termine:
Di, 14:00 - 16:00, WE5/02.020
Inhalt:
Security and privacy are integral parts of information systems today. While security experts know how to create secure systems, they lack understanding of the needs and perceptions of users. As a result, we often end up with secure systems that lack usability or usable systems that lack security. The discipline "usable security" embraces this conflict by empirically studying users and developers as well as proposing improved systems.

Potential seminar topics include usability issues in the following security and privacy contexts:
  • secure passwords
  • encryption
  • protection from online tracking
  • security warnings
  • interface design
  • privacy policies

If you want to participate in this seminar, please send an e-mail to Claudia Tischler ([claudia.tischler@uni-bamberg.de] claudia.tischler@uni-bamberg.de ) until 12 Oct 2018.

This seminar will be offered in English on demand.
