regelmäßige aktive Teilnahme; Hausarbeit in englischer Sprache nach Maßgabe des Style Sheet (3000-4000 Wörter; Abgabetermin: 24. August 2009); Tutorien "Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten" und "Einführung in die Datenbankrecherche für Anglisten" (Eintrag jeweils über den Virtuellen Campus! Siehe Schwarzes Brett in der U9/2. Stock und Website EngLit unter "News")

- Inhalt
- In this seminar we will read three novels that have been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in recent years.
We will explore a wide range of narrative modes and identify both conventions and (self-reflexive) experiments with literary form. We will address questions of gender(ed) relationships, history, (personal) memory and forgetting, narrative evasion and repression.
In the texts chosen narrative strategies contribute to negotiations of identity construction processes.
We will thus identify trends in recent British fiction and learn about different theoretical approaches towards the (contemporary) novel.

regular active participation, term paper in English according to the style sheet (3000-4000 words, deadline: 24.08.2009); compulsory tutorials "Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten" and "Einführung in die Datenbankrecherche für Anglisten" (registration for tutorials via "Virtueller Campus", see the notice-board at the U9/2nd floor and "News" at the homepage of the department)
