Für diese ausschlaggebend ist die Teilnahme an einem Test oder eines Vortrages oder eines „Term papers“. Dies ist abhängig von der Modulzugehörigkeit bzw. den ECTS-Punkten.
Für die Einbringung im Consolidation Module I des Master-Studiengangs ist das Bestehen der mündlichen Modulprüfung am Ende des Semesters erforderlich.

The grade will be determined by a test, a presentation, or a term paper. This depends on the module taken and/or the ECTS points to be awarded.
If they wish this course to count towards their “Consolidation Module I Master-Studiengang”, students must pass an oral examination at the end of the semester.

- Course Description
Ranging from subtle adaptations to complete homages, the movies we are going to see and discuss this semester will represent just a sliver of the films that owe credit to Shakespeare’s plays, his time and his biography. In our seminar we will focus on some great adaptations of his plays (e.g. Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream etc.) as well as films exploring the inspiration behind Shakespeare’s plays and poems, which allow us to go behind the scenes of this complex genius.
This seminar will introduce the students to Shakespeare spinoffs – from huge box office successes to lesser known adaptations, e.g. Shakespeare Live!, A Waste of Shame, The Mystery of Shakespeare and His Sonnets, To Be or Not to Be, Dead Poets Society, The Theatre of Blood etc.
On completion of this course, the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and critically assess the range of ways in which Shakespeare’s plays have been appropriated in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and they will also be able to demonstrate the ability to reflect constructively on the development of their own learning and research practice.
There will be a detailed programme and extra material on the Virtual Campus.

Other texts will be made available on the Virtual Campus. Students are advised to allocate a particular folder for such texts right at the beginning of term. Texts will be uploaded in the course of the semester, shortly before the relevant seminar is due to take place.

Needless to say that regular attendance and active participation are expected from students interested in the course. Absences will be excused when they result from circumstances beyond students’ control (illness, family emergency, religious holiday).
