- Inhalt
- Covering the long nineteenth century of the Ottoman Empire ending with the Great War, the course places the events and realities of this timespan in context. It will examine the broad trends and transformations in late Ottoman history with a critical eye for the significant problems and how historians cover these problems. The course begins with an overview of general perceptions of the nineteenth century. After that, the course will assess the major historiographical questions through thematically organized weeks on the modern transformations of state, religion, nation, administration, war, diplomacy, social and intellectual life in the late Ottoman Empire.
