- Inhalt
- This course builds on the knowledge and skills students have acquired in analyzing linguistic structures in their introductory courses. It discusses a number of interdisciplinary areas of linguistic study, including those investigating social dimensions of language variation, psychological mechanisms of language use and acquisition, and corpus-based studies of pragmatics and discourse structure. Following the theoretical part of this course, students will have the opportunity work on authentic data from a variety of languages.
Participation in this course assumes prior completion of the course An Introduction to Linguistics (in the Basismodul Nebenfach Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft) or an equivalent introductory course in another programme.
Students may receive up to 8 ECTS for this course, which requires regular active participation in class and completion of a number of assignments.
