Inhalt
In this seminar students will get acquainted with the study of Positive Psychology - the scientific study of the strengths, virtues, and positive emotions that enable individuals and communities to thrive. This course is an introduction to the study of topics related to happiness and the positive aspects of human experience such as general well-being, character strengths, optimism, gratitude, and prosocial behaviours. The course focuses on the main areas of basic and applied research in positive psychology and the methods that researchers use to study positive concepts with a special emphasis on the individual differences in wellbeing and happiness. Studies on wellbeing enhancement interventions will also be discussed and examined. This course will also introduce conflicting perspectives and their respective empirical support such as the drawbacks of positive experiences, and the measurement issues. This course is highly interactive. Format includes some lecturing by the instructor, presentation by the students, in-class group discussions, and small or large group activities.
