- Inhalt
- Does politics make a difference? At the heart of political science lies the question of whether representative government truly impacts public policies. If elections and government formation had no influence on public policy outcomes, what would be the purpose of political representation? Yet the connection between who gets elected and the decisions made can often be unclear. How much do public policies reflect government ideology in an era of globalization and supra-national institutions? Whose interests prevail when coalition parties make policy compromises? And does it actually matter who sits at the cabinet table during crucial policy decisions?
In this course, we will explore the dynamic relationship between representative government and public policy outcomes. Through comparative analysis and case studies, we will investigate the roles of political parties and various forms of government to understand their impact on policy outcomes, uncovering the complexities and real-world implications of political representation and policy-making.
