- Voraussetzungen/Prerequisites: BA in political science or a comparative qualification (for students with foreign degrees). Basic knowledge of research methods and experience in structuring and writing academic papers. Teaching language is English so sufficiently good English is required.

- Inhalt
- Parliamentary documents such as speeches, questions, motions, and legislative texts provide rich sources for studying legislative behavior, political representation, party competition, government–opposition dynamics, and policymaking. This seminar introduces modern AI-based approaches to analyzing parliamentary data, with a particular focus on large language models (LLMs) and agent-supported research workflows.
Over the course of the semester, students develop an original research project on legislative politics. They identify suitable parliamentary data, translate political concepts into transparent coding schemes, and implement an LLM-based analysis in R. Beginning with a small pilot sample, they evaluate and refine their measurements through human annotation, validation, and systematic error analysis. Joint sessions on research design, data, and methods alternate with independent study phases in which students work on their projects and submit successive portfolio components, such as a project proposal, coding scheme, validation analysis, and preliminary results. Particular emphasis is placed on measurement validity, reproducibility, scalability, and the critical assessment of AI-generated results.
