- Inhalt
- Description: The course deals with the analysis of modern political campaigns in Germany and worldwide. Throughout the semester a range of topics will be covered, including both theoretical and practical aspects of campaigns. The course consists of three modules. The first one presents students with the legal regulations of campaigning in Germany and discusses the history of political campaigns worldwide. Afterwards, in the second module the practical side is covered, including such topics as political advertising, negative campaigning, electoral slogans, scandals, symbols and colour in politics and the creative tricks that professionals applied. This will be followed by a close focus on the online political communication and the issues of digitalization of political campaigns and possible prospects of the future development of the electoral campaigns. Throughout this course a heavy emphasis is laid on group work related to the practical side of campaigns.
Language: The seminar will be taught in English. Students are allowed to submit their essays in German.
Portfolio: The final grade consists of 3 essays (1300-1800 words each) and a presentation.
