- Inhalt
- Wealth constitutes a central component of social stratification, yet empirical-sociological research on wealth inequalities has only gained prominence in recent decades. This shift involves a transition from solely examining aggregate wealth measures to a more nuanced exploration of individual-level wealth assets. Moreover, there is a growing emphasis on investigating wealth dynamics from a life-course perspective, a focal point of this seminar. Our seminar centers on the accumulation (and loss) of wealth throughout the life course, examining disparities across dimensions such as gender and migration background, as well as exploring the influence of family and partnership events such as marriage, parenthood, or divorce. The investigation of these themes is complemented by a distinctly comparative approach that acknowledges the role of life-course contexts
