- Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
- The seminar will be conducted in English, including readings, discussions and assessment. The assessment will be marked according to criteria, and not language skills. I understand that speaking in a foreign language will be daunting for some (or most) students, so I will aim to keep the mood relaxed and any possible difficulties can be discussed in German.
- Inhalt
- This Bachelor seminar explores the interplay between family, gender roles and the division of paid and unpaid work, with particular emphasis placed on the role of gender in structuring men and women's lives. In addition to introductory material, substantive themes within the seminar will be divided into three areas: an examination of the private sphere, the public sphere and the interplay between the two. Seminar sessions will consist of discussions of topics and readings, presentations, group work and reflection activities. Assessment will include an in-class exam, and will be discussed in the first week of class.
