- Inhalt
This course traces the life course of the parent-child relationship, from the birth of children to the death of parents. It addresses key issues and scholarly debates surrounding early, middle, and late stages of this relationship. Within these stages, we will discuss literature on pertinent research questions such as:
• How are family structure and social inequality mutually related?
• Do children from homosexual parents fare worse than children from heterosexual parents?
• Do children replicate the family behaviour (fertility; marriage; divorce) of their parents?
• How do parents and children support each other across the life course?
• How are family structure and social inequality causally linked?
• Are multigenerational bonds becoming increasingly important?
The readings come from different disciplines, including sociology, psychology, and demography.
