An- und Abmeldefristen im FlexNow-Onlinesystem entnehmen Sie bitte der Website des Sprachenzentrums.
To ensure an even distribution between the classes, we will be using the "pool" registration method. You will need to select two time slots in which you are potentially able to attend a Grundkurs I class. Please make sure that you can attend at either of these times as we cannot take individual preferences or circumstances into account! It is therefore imperative that you organise your timetable with your other subject(s) in good time so that clashes are avoided. If you are assigned to a class that clashes with some other course, you will then need to decide which of those classes you take as it will not be possible to switch Grundkurs I parallel classes after the registration closes (on 10 April 2018)!
You should receive a FlexNow email to confirm that you are registered for the three options you choose and then a further mail (after 10 April 2018) to inform you about the class you have been assigned to. Please go along to that class in the second week of term (beginning 16.4.2018 onwards) to "claim your place" and find out important information about the class!

BA Hauptfach/Nebenfach/LA Gymnasium/Realschule/Grundschule/Mittelschule, BA Berufliche Bildung, LA Hauptschule (Didaktikfach Englisch), Wipäd: Basismodul (3 ECTS)
Please note that all courses in Sprachpraxis are designed for students who have taken their Abitur in English. Students from other disciplines who wish to improve their English should check the webpages of the Sprachenzentrum for general English courses (HaF). In addition, students who have not taken the Placement Test Einstufungstest (see details on the Anglistik homepage) and/or have not registered for the class via FlexNow are not guaranteed a place in that course for this semester!
- Inhalt
- Activities in Grundkurs I focus on the three fundamental skills in the English language (reading, listening and writing). The aim is to make participants more proficient in understanding spoken and written English and to write with confidence. In this respect, Grundkurs I should be seen as an introduction to the skills necessary for the study of English and as a clear indicator for the participants' further progress in their university studies.
There will be two central examinations for all Grundkurs I classes, which will take place outside of regular class time and which can only be taken on the dates given on the course schedule posted on the VC and as individual dates (Einzeltermine) on UnivIS. Students participating in class are required to register for these exams via FlexNow!
The course can only be attended in one semester, although the examinations are open to those students who were not successful in passing the course at the first attempt. In this semester, we are offering TWO “Grundkurs I for Repeaters” class; we advise those who have to repeat to attend this class.
The content of all of the parallel Grundkurs I classes is identical.

- The course book by Annette Kapel and Wendy Sharp, Objective Proficiency Student's Book with Answers with Downloadable Software, (Cambridge University Press, ISBN 9781107646377), should be purchased before classes begin.
