Communication-Oriented Modeling COM

Das COM (Communication-Oriented Modelling) Projekt ist Teil des DFG-Schwerpunktprogramms "Sozionik" und ist ein Kooperationsprojekt des Instituts für Technik und Gesellschaft an der TU Harburg mit dem Lehrstuhl für Angewandte Informatik in den Kultur-, Geschichts-, und Geowissenschaften an der Universität Bamberg.
Während Kommunikationsprozesse normalerweise als das Senden von Nachrichten von Sender zu Empfänger beschrieben werden, findet in der Massenkommunikation vielmehr eine Veröffentlichung (Publikation) von Nachrichten gegenüber einer (unbekannten) Leserschaft statt, wobei auf andere vorher veröffentlichte Nachrichten Bezug genommen wird.
COM untersucht und simuliert Kommunikationsprozesse im Großen, von Zitationsnetzwerken wissenschaftlicher Veröffentlichungen über Usenet Diskussionsforen bis zum WWW.
