In the early weeks of term, we offer an introductory block familiarizing students with linguistic research methods (the Übung "Methods and Theories in Linguistics"): https://univis.uni-bamberg.de/form?dsc=anew/lecture_view&lvs=guk/angl/engls/method&anonymous=1&founds=guk/angl/engls/method&sem=2022w&codeset=utf8. Participation in this Übung is recommended for anyone with a strong interest in Linguistics. For those BA students planning on doing their Ergänzungsmodul in Linguistics, for all students doing Lehramt Gymnasium and for all MA students, the course is obligatory at a certain point in their studies, so it is recommended to do it as early as possible. Suitability for modules:
This course is suitable for all degree courses involving English Linguistics (Lehramt, BA, MA, etc.) where 2, 3, 4 or 6 ECTS are required.
Students enrolled in the MA English and American Studies can take part in this course, but they can only get it credited as part of the Master’s Thesis Module in Linguistics ("Oberseminar"). That means, it will not count towards your Master Module, Consolidation Module or Profile Module.

For BA students, this course is part of the Ergänzungsmodul.
BA major English and American studies (75 ECTS): Choose the Ergänzungsmodul in one of the two fields in which you are doing the Aufbaumodule (i.e. Literature, Linguistics or Cultural Studies).
BA minor English and American studies (30 or 45 ECTS): Choose the Ergänzungsmodul in the same field in which you are doing the Aufbaumodul (i.e. Literature, Linguistics or Cultural Studies).
A short note on the time slots above:
The course comprises three online sessions, all of which require attendance via MS Teams: Two hours (8-10 am) on Monday, 24 October, two hours (8-10 am) on Thursday, 3 November, and four hours (8 am -12 pm) on Friday, 4 November, with a little project work in between. Please contact the lecturers for special arrangements if you encounter timetabling issues. The sessions from 26 October to 2 November (via MS Teams) are consultation hours for supporting the project work; attendance is not obligatory or permanent.

Students who register for more than one course will lose their right to participate in any one of the courses. Multiple registration is allowed for the waiting list only.
The number of participants is limited to 15.
For students moving to Bamberg from other universities, ERASMUS students and those who urgently need the credit, a limited number of places will be reserved for late registration. In case of overbooking, please contact the lecturer concerning your admission to the course.
