3. Registration and Deregistration:

Students who register for more than one course will lose their right to participate in any one of the courses. Multiple registration is allowed for the waiting list only.
For students moving to Bamberg from other universities, ERASMUS students and those who urgently need the credit, a limited number of places will be reserved for late registration. In case of overbooking, please contact the lecturer concerning your admission to the course.

- Inhalt
- This course is concerned with central aspects of the pronunciation of English. It will provide a description and classification of speech sounds. Students will learn to use the IPA system to transcribe English texts into distinctive speech segments, including the use of strong and weak forms, lexical and syntactic stress. Particular attention will be paid to the problems German learners have with English pronunciation. Ultimately, the course serves to make students aware of the British and American pronunciation norms (RP and GA) and to enable them to model their pronunciation on these standards and/or understand the ways in which it may deviate from them. Core readings and texts for transcription will be made available on the Virtual Campus after each session.
We will use the touchscreens in the LanguageLLab to support work in groups.
