- 📊 Ever wondered what’s really happening behind the statistical tests you use? This seminar is designed to build your intuition and understanding of Bayesian statistics from the ground up. Using Statistical Rethinking by Richard McElreath as our guide, we’ll explore the core principles of probability, statistical modeling, and causal inference—without requiring any prior experience in statistics!
🔍 What You’ll Learn:
Start with probability-as-counting, then build up to simple and multilevel linear models.
See how t-tests, ANOVA, ANCOVA, Pearson correlation, and other classic tests are all just special cases of the same underlying model.
Learn to design statistical models by hand (much easier than you think!) and evaluate them properly (harder than you think!).
Develop causal reasoning skills—learn how to separate real effects from spurious correlations using Bayesian methods and information criteria.

This is not a typical statistics course—it’s a hands-on, discussion-based seminar where we approach statistics as a conceptual toolkit rather than a set of formulas to memorize. Every week, we will:

💻 Build and experiment with statistical models
❓ Discuss key ideas and real-world applications
By the end of this seminar, you’ll be able to construct your own statistical models for any analysis, fully understand what they’re doing, and interpret results with confidence.
